Plant for the Planet
What’s the Problem for the Planet?
Did you know that the air inside can be just as dirty as the air outside? Furnaces, air conditioners, dust, dirt, pet fur and dander and sometimes the things we use to clean can make the air we breathe inside not very healthy.
Just like the trees outside, plants inside do a lot for the environment. They absorb carbon dioxide (C02), which is a greenhouse gas, and give off oxygen. Ever visit a greenhouse where they grow a lot of different kinds of plants? Have you noticed the wonderful smells and how good you feel in there?
Growing plants is a great Act for the Planet as you can actually help clean the air inside!
If you take this Act for the Planet you are:
- Improving inside air quality because plants absorb pollution and carbon dioxide and tiny dirt pieces stick to the leaves
- Saving water
- Making spaces beautiful
Having more green space creates:
- Cleaner air
- Health benefits: seeing and smelling plants helps make people feel more relaxed
- Sound insulation: having a lot of plants can reduce street noise by absorbing or reflecting sounds
